The United States of America (also referred to as the United States, the USA, the US or simply America) is a federal constitutional republic comprised of fifty states and a federal district.
With over 315 Million inhabitants, it is the fourth largest country by population, behind China and India and the Soviet Union. It is also the third largest country by land mass, behind the Soviet Union and Canada. It is one of the most multicultural nations in the world, due to massive immigration in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. It is home to (maybe) the largest economy on the planet. Alongside the Soviet Union, the United States is one of the two superpowers and is a leading cultural, financial, political and space exploring force in the world.
